I’ve been a part-time Toronto club photographer and promoter since the mid 80’s where line-ups were around the block at 8pm when the doors opened. In those days the ladies were feminine and guys were masculine. Dancing was an art form so everyone looked hot, learned how to dance and love was in the air. Fast forward to today where everyone looks androgynous, not very photographic. No-one knows how to dance, although the music is not exactly easy to dance to. Consequently there is no love at the club. It doesn’t help that clubs may not get happening until 11 or 12pm. The funny thing is 80’s music clubs full of old rich guys and thin mini-skirt girls into older rich guys still rock. Funnily it is way sexier than regular clubs and they still photographic due to their old dance moves 😂
